Scar Removal
Scars come along as a natural part of the healing process of the skin. They can be a result of injuries, acne, trauma, and even stress. When a wound heals, it eventually turns into a scar. Facial scars come in various forms, and since your face is exposed to multiple elements of the environment, your scars become more difficult to heal without a proper scar treatment.
The ideal scar treatment involves prompting the skin to release new connective tissues at the dermal layer of the skin. It is this release of new collagen which results in near scar removal. We can use scar removal treatments such as skin needling, Thermique, or skincare options as effective approaches, depending on the type of scarring and your skin tone.
How Our Scar Removal Treatment Works
When it comes to repairing scarring we need to be able to firstly stop the inflammation in the skin, then we can focus on trying to break down and replace the scar tissue with new soft healthy connective tissue. If we are able to do this then we can reduce the appearance and size of the scarring.
At You by Sia we use a combination of scar treatments such as skin needling, Thermique, and advanced skincare to break down, regenerate and rebuild the skin, as well as making sure we use our Clinicals cosmeceutical skincare that contains active ingredients to assist with scar removal.
Acne scarring is debilitating and may cause a lot of anxiety. But with the help of acne scar removal treatments, it is now possible to get rid of your fear and unease. What Causes Scarring
Scarring is the result of intense trauma to the skin which inhibits the wound healing process and the release of new collagen and elastin. Scarring generally occurs when the deeper layer of the skin (the dermis) is ‘torn’ or damaged. Scarring can be a result of acne, burns, cuts or surgery.
When there is skin trauma, the skin immediately goes into its wound repair response and releases new skin tissue to try and repair the damage as quickly as possible. This does not allow for a well rejuvenated connective tissue to form and usually leaves a hard fibrous new skin with irregularities.
Scars form when the dermal (thick) layer of the skin gets damaged and the skin forms new collagen fibres to heal the injury. The new connective tissue has a different texture than the surrounding skin, which takes the form of a scar. Usually, scars are pale and flat, but during excessive collagen production, scars may get raised. No matter what type of scar you have, there is a suitable treatment available at Bondi Junction for every type of scar.
We also know that when the skin is in a state of inflammation, it cannot produce the right type of connective tissue and generally releases that scar type of tissue instead.
Scar Removal Treatment
Acne scarring is not only a cosmetic concern but can also have a significant emotional impact, often causing distress and lowering self-confidence. The good news is that modern scar removal treatments are highly effective in improving skin texture and reducing visible scarring.
At You by Sia, our approach to scar removal focuses on calming inflammation in the skin while breaking down existing scar tissue and encouraging the formation of new, healthy connective tissue.
To achieve this, we use a combination of advanced treatments including skin needling, which stimulates the skin’s natural healing response and promotes collagen production, Thermique, which applies controlled thermal energy to rejuvenate deeper layers of the skin, and clinical-grade skincare, which contains active ingredients that support repair and enhance treatment outcomes. Together, these methods work to regenerate and rebuild the skin, smooth irregularities, and gradually reduce the appearance and depth of scars.

FAQs
-
Scarring occurs when the deeper layers of the skin, known as the dermis, are damaged by factors such as acne, burns, cuts, or surgical wounds. In response to this trauma, the skin initiates a rapid repair process by producing new collagen fibres. However, this tissue is often irregular and lacks the smooth structure of normal skin, leading to visible scars. Scars may appear flat, raised, or textured differently from the surrounding skin, depending on the extent of the damage and collagen production.
-
Different types of scars form depending on the cause and severity of skin damage. Acne scars develop when inflamed acne lesions damage the dermis, leading to uneven collagen formation and pitted or indented marks. Surgical scars occur when the skin is cut or sutured, and the healing process produces fibrous tissue that may be raised or flat. Trauma scars result from injuries such as burns or cuts, where rapid collagen production creates tissue that differs in texture and colour from the surrounding skin. Each type of scar reflects the skin’s attempt to repair itself after injury.
-
The skin can partially improve the appearance of scars over time, particularly when scarring is mild. Natural healing may soften the texture and reduce redness as collagen remodels gradually. However, deeper or more severe scars, such as those caused by acne, surgery, or trauma, usually require professional treatment to significantly improve their appearance. Inflammation and environmental factors can also hinder natural improvement, making targeted scar treatments more effective for noticeable results.
-
Non-surgical approaches focus on stimulating the skin’s natural repair mechanisms and enhancing collagen production. Treatments such as skin needling create micro-injuries that trigger healing and improve texture. Thermique™ uses controlled thermal energy to rejuvenate deeper skin layers and tighten tissue. Additionally, clinical-grade skincare with active ingredients supports the regeneration of healthy connective tissue, reduces irregularities, and gradually smooths the appearance of scars without invasive procedures.
-
Skin needling works by creating tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin, which stimulate the body’s natural healing response. This process encourages the production of new collagen and elastin, strengthening the dermal structure. As a result, damaged or uneven skin tissue is gradually repaired, improving texture and reducing the appearance of scars. When combined with clinical-grade skincare, skin needling enhances overall regeneration and promotes smoother, healthier-looking skin.
-
Thermique™ is an advanced treatment that delivers controlled thermal energy to the deeper layers of the skin. This stimulates collagen production and tightens loose or damaged tissue. By promoting the formation of healthy connective tissue, Thermique™ helps to smooth irregularities and reduce the visibility of scars. It is a non-invasive method that enhances skin texture and supports overall scar improvement.
-
Specialised skincare products can support the repair of scarred or damaged skin. Clinical-grade formulations contain active ingredients that assist in reducing inflammation, promoting collagen production, and enhancing the skin’s natural healing process. When used alongside professional treatments, these products help improve skin texture, minimise irregularities, and maintain the results of scar reduction over time.
-
Old scars can be significantly improved with appropriate treatments. Techniques such as skin needling and Thermique™ encourage the skin to regenerate healthy connective tissue, which gradually softens and smooths scarred areas. Complementary clinical-grade skincare supports this process, enhancing results. While older scars may not disappear completely, their texture and appearance can be markedly refined over time.
-
Non-invasive scar treatments can gradually improve the appearance, texture, and firmness of scarred skin. Patients can expect reduced visibility of scars, smoother skin, and enhanced collagen formation. These methods support natural regeneration but may not completely remove deep or severe scars. Consistent treatment and proper skincare help maintain and optimise results over time.
-
Visible improvement in scars typically occurs after several treatment sessions, depending on the type and severity of the scar. Mild scars may show changes within a few weeks, while deeper or older scars can take several months to respond. Consistent professional treatments combined with supportive skincare enhance results and help maintain smoother, healthier-looking skin over time.
